Quiz 1: December 8, 2009

What students should know and be able to do:

 

*Be able to explain the difference between connotation and denotation. (You MUST know the definitions to do this!)

*Be able to explain the difference between foreshadowing and flashback

*Be able to define and explain omniscient narration and first person narration

*Be able to define protagonist and be sure you know who the protagonists are and could describe who they live with, and what their homelife is like.

*There will be questions about plot events so that it is evident that you've read the assigned chapters.

*Be able to define and label similes and metaphors. Be sure you know the key words for similes and that you could identify what is being compared in examples.
