For each quiz, answer the following questions in complete sentences.  Be sure to RSQ.

Self Select Quiz #1

1. Where is the novel set? Describe the setting in detail. Be sure to include WHERE and WHEN the novel takes place.

2. Who are the main characters in your novel? Be sure to tell their names and any important details you've learned so far.

3. What type of plot do you think your novel has based on what you've read so far? Be sure you support the type you name.

4. What genre is your novel? How do you know? Explain.

5. Based on what you've read so far, what is your honest opinion of this novel? Why? Explain.

Self Select Quiz #2

1. Who is narrating your novel?  From what point of view is the story being told? 1st person?  Second? Third? Omniscient?  Explain and support with examples from the novel (include page numbers).  Be sure to include the definition for the type of view point you choose.

2.  Based on what you have read so far, make an inference on which characters will be dynamic and which will remain static.  For the dynamic character(s) tell how and why you think they will change.  Be sure to support your inference with examples from the novel (include page numbers).  For the static character(s) (please refer to main characters only) explain why you think they will remain static.  Be sure to support what you say in the same manner as you did with your dynamic character(s).  (Minimum of at least 1 dynamic and 3 static should be discussed in this answer).

1. Which character do you respect the most in your novel? Explain and support your answer in a detailed paragraph.

2. Which character do you respect the least in your book? Explain and support your answer in a detailed paragraph.

3. Explain the significance of the title of your novel. How does it tie into the plot? Support your explanation using quotes from the novel. Be sure your quotes make your title's meaning clear.

1. What three questions would you ask either the author or a character from your novel? Write out the three questions and then choose one and predict the answer.

2. What do you want to remember about this book? Or what do you think you will remember about this book if you were to think back on it after ten years? Explain.

3. What type of person do you think would most enjoy this book? A girl or boy? An adult or a teen? What kinds of things would (s)he be interested? Explain your answer. Be convincing.

Self Select Quiz #5

1. Why did this novel hold your interest?  If the novel didn’t hold your interest, how could the author adjust the plot or his/her writing style to interest you?   Discuss specific situations, characters, and writing style characteristics in your answer.  Be sure you RSQ and write at least 3-5 complete sentences.

2.  What surprised you about this novel?  Consider plot twists or outcomes, characters, themes, etc.  Why/how?  Be sure to RSQ and write at least 3-5 complete sentences.

3.  Write a short summary of your novel from beginning to end.
