Team 8-5
Team Expectations and Policies
TEAM Expectations:
- Respect others as well as yourself. Respect the property of your classmates and your classrooms. Golden rule: Treat others as you expect to be treated. Keep hands, feet, and inappropriate comments to yourself. Choose the appropriate time for speaking in class. Raise your hand and wait for the appropriate time to speak. Give your classmates and teacher the same respect you would expect. Respect the personal property of others as well as the equipment in each room.
- Be prepared for class. Bring paper, pencil/pen, planner and a positive attitude to class everyday. ALWAYS bring your homework with you. It is your responsibility to bring these items to class. You will not be allowed to return to your locker for forgotten items.
- Come to class on time. This means you will be in your seat and filling out your planner at the beginning of class. You must be in your seat ready to work with at the start of class or you will be counted tardy. Begin warm-ups independently.
- Follow directions the first time they are given. We will do hands-on activities, group work, and independent work. It is very important that you listen and follow directions, so that you can complete tasks successfully and safely.
Consequences: Consequences of not following the above policies or meeting the above expectations will result in disciplinary action. In special cases, a student might go right to the assignment of detention(s) or office-referral may occur. All students and parents should refer to the Nagel Middle School Handbook in the student planner for discipline policies and procedures.
Team 8-5 Late Work/Make-Up WorkPolicy: Excused Absence: Students are given 2 days for every day absent to make up work, when absence is excused. If you are absent on a Thursday, your make up work will be expected on Monday. Always check Progress Book to get information about your missed assignments. If you are present the day an assignment is assigned, but absent on the day it is due, you will be expected to have the completed assignment on the day you return to school.
Late Work (the student is present and fails to turn in homework): Late work may receive partial or no credit. Points will be deducted each academic day that a long term project or paper is late, which usually results in the loss of a letter grade per day late.
Quiz and Test make-ups: If you are absent on the day of a quiz or test you will be expected to meet individually with each of your teachers to determine when you may stay after school to make up your work. Generally, if you are absent only the day of the quiz or test, you will be expected to make it up the day you return.
Absentees:
If you know you will be gone, try to let your teachers know ahead of time so you can get your assignments before you go. Work that is taken in advance should be turned in the day you return.
Nagel’s policy for teachers collecting work to be picked up by a parent states that on the 3rd day you are absent your teachers will be happy to do this for you.
Homework assignments will be posted on Progress Book. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR GOING TO PROGRESSBOOK TO LOOK UP YOUR MISSING ASSIGNMENTS. Also, check with classmates during advisory or ask your advisor if you can check in with the other team teachers. Late work will only be accepted for those with an excused absence.
Team 8-5 Extra Credit Policy:
Extra credit will be given at each teacher’s discretion. Extra credit will not be offered on an individual basis, but will be offered to the entire team when appropriate. Extra credit is not intended to substitute for not doing your regular classroom assignments.
Grading Scale:
The grading scale will follow that of the district:
