Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) – Students who have been identified in one of the following areas (as developed by state and district criteria): superior cognitive, reading or mathematics will have the opportunity for placement in the ELO program. The ELO offering is a unique program designed by an interdisciplinary team composed of gifted specialists and classroom teachers. ELO will meet as part of the students' Encore schedule. Foreign Language – (Requires teacher recommendation) Students must have above average grades in academic classes and above average study skills in order to be recommended. These classes can accommodate a total of 180 students, therefore; not all students recommended will be selected for foreign language. This class will require semester exams, will appear on high school transcripts, and will be calculated into students’ high school grade point average (GPA). There will be 30 Latin, 30 German, and 30 French spaces. There will be 90 Spanish spaces. If you have been recommended and would like to take a foreign language as one of your encore choices, check the box and rank your choices 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (draw a line through any language you definitely do not want to take). If you choose foreign language, also select an alternative encore class by placing an “A” in that box. In the event you do not get one of the 180 spaces, you will get the alternate encore class.
