Marlene Zando
Welcome parents and students to Nagel ELO. I am Marlene Zando, a secondary certified teacher of English with a Masters degree in Gifted Education. Being an experienced educator in the Forest Hills School District and a resident of the community, I am dedicated to giving my students a superlative educational experience through the works and study of Shakespeare and the English language.
Course Overview
This survey of Shakespeare’s life, his culture, his works and his style provides enrichment for the gifted reader. It provides students with knowledge and understanding of literature that challenges their thinking and actions in dealing with life’s problems. Students will perform as actors, use their analytical skills and creativity to create products, and individually hone their writing skills as poets and playwrights.
Required Materials
- A folder for ELO Reading
- Lined paper
- Colored Pencils
- A copy of the play… Mrs. Zando will let you know title/date
Expectations and Policies:
- Be Punctual
- Bring all necessary materials to class each day
- Be an active participant in class
- Be respectful of others and their ideas
- Always use impeccable manners, appropriate language, and correct grammar
- Be positive
- Keep your area clean
Team Grading Policies
Student grades will be based upon completion of projects, activities, participation, and daily exercises done in class.
Grading Scale: The grading scale will follow that of the district.
93-100% A 85-92% B 76-84% C 70-75-% D Below 70% F
Additional Information
Students will need to participate and stay on top of projects so that due dates are met. Absences will be taken into consideration and students will have two days for each day missed to hand in any missing work. Late work is not accepted.
